Idea
Paradiplomacy Scholars Network (PSN) is an informal, international community of researchers and practitioners interested in paradiplomacy, the international activities of cities and regions. The Network was created as a space for sharing ideas, discussing research, and connecting people working on similar topics across disciplines, regions, and career stages.
Origins
PSN grew out of collaboration among scholars from different countries and academic centres who were already exchanging ideas, organising discussions, and working together on paradiplomacy-related research. Rather than being launched by a single institution, the Network developed bottom-up through these shared initiatives. Over time, the University of Lodz, through its ParadiplomacyLab – Centre for Studies on Paradiplomacy and City Diplomacy, took on a coordinating role, helping to bring these activities together and support their further development.
What We Do
Today, PSN brings together over 140 members from five continents. Our main activities include regular online seminars, collaboration on publications and editorial projects, and the organisation of conference panels and workshops. The Network also provides a space for developing new research ideas and international project initiatives. PSN is open, non-hierarchical, and welcomes anyone interested in better understanding the international roles of cities and regions.
